OUR ORIGINAL DESTINATION: RIGHT ON TIME.

November 12, 2023 - Candace Hurley

We were the last ones to be allowed into the Civil Rights Museum today. We crossed the street and showed up just before 4pm to enter this monumental site and tour the history of Birmingham and the Civil Rights Movement. (Only moments after we had paid our entrance fees another party of two arrived, only to be turned away, however. we were right on time.) The museum was a powerful and engaging testimony of the civil rights struggle. Magic City’s story was compelling and uniquely tied to the movement especially after the bombing tragedy. The exhibit captures the intertwined fate of Dr. Kings Civil Rights Movement and Magic City,Alabama. I was transfixed and yet transported to another time and space. Honored to be with this team on this journey for this worthy cause of creating a Middle School. We were only in Magic City for a few hours and we were feeling secure and steadfast in our purpose and intent. Regular folks united in our cause as agents of change. We had gotten the nod from the universe. We are on the right track and we were right on time.
